Diversify Your Summer Reading Challenge [Reading Challenge]

We told you about the tour.  We even hosted a giveaway.  Now we're telling you about an awesome summer reading challenge that will put you in the running to win  forty, yes 40, books.

What do you have to do?  Well, you have to read some books.  Some Diversity in YA books.  That means "you can read whichever diverse books you like! By diverse we mean: (1) main characters or major secondary characters (e.g., a love interest or best friend kind of character) who are of color or are LGBT; or (2) written by a person of color or LGBT author."  You can check out lists at Reading In Color or New Releases at Diversity in YA.

Okay, you've read.  Now what?  You write a 500 word max essay on what you learned and what the experience did for you.  (I know, I know, sounds like an assignment!)  Then you post that essay in a public place (think a blog, Facebook (as long as you open it up so that everyone can read it), or some other public forum) and submit your link here.

Sounds like a good thing to do even if you don't win, right?  Help spread the word about the awesome that's in YA and how diverse it can be.
