OED Now Includes OMG [News] [You're the Expert]

Well, my online friends, we've done it.  We got OMG into the OED (Oxford English Dictionary).  But online IMmers and wireless texters weren't the ones who invented OMG.  In fact, according to the OED, "the first confirmed use of OMG was in a 1917 letter by a British admiral."  Other abbreviations added include LOL, IMHO, and BFF.  I'm personally bummed that BRB didn't make it, since that's totally part of my vernacular.

BRB - abbr.  "be right back."  I mean, how hard is that?

We feel validated 'cause they finally added the word "heart" as a verb. ♥  And in case you're wondering, other great entries that made it were muffin-top, wag, la-la land (which can either mean Los Angeles or being out of touch with reality OR simultaneously both), and fabless.

What do you think about these new additions?  Are any of these part of your everyday speech?  Are you glad to see OMG in the dictionary?  Thoughts, please.

For those of you not familiar with You're The Expert here at I Heart Monster, it's a type of post where we share some information with you, then ask you what you think about that information.  We encourage you to leave your opinion or answers in the comments section, and even write your own post as an answer if you are so inclined.  See, we're all different, and we all have different experiences, and that's part of what makes the blogosphere such a fun place - we're all experts about what we think and how we feel and our particular view on the world.  This is just a forum for you to share those with the rest of us.  If you do write a post, we'd love it if you share the link with us.

WOW! That is so cool! And you're right, brb is something you use daily, it should have been included.
