July's Indie Exchange [Book Signing Alert] [Events] [Indie Exchange]

What cool thing is going on at your local Indie Bookstore this month?  Tell us or leave us a link to your post on your local YA literary happenings in the comments section.  We'd love to hear about them.  We've got two to speak of here in the metro Phoenix area... both at Changing Hands in Tempe, AZ.

First is a Teen & Adult Writing Workshop with Tom Leveen of PARTY on Monday, July 5th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Kill Your Darlings: How to Prepare and Publish Your First YA Novel with Tom Leveen6:30-8pm Monday, July 5
In this frank and honest—but encouraging and fun—class, Young Adult novelist Tom Leveen will uncomplicate the complicated world of publishing your YA fiction: when and how to start, what to do, how and where to submit. With equal measures of reality and reaching for the stars, you’ll come away a little older and a little wiser, but better prepared than most writers submitting YA fiction to publishers. Cost: FREE, no registration necessary.
Second is a book signing with Karen Healey of GUARDIAN OF THE DEAD at 7pm on Wednesday, July 14th. (Read our Debut Interview with Karen and our Coming Soon post about GUARDIAN!)
Meet YA Author Karen Healey
7pm Wednesday, July 14
New Zealander Karen Healey presents Guardian of the Dead, her debut novel of vengeful fairies, Māori mythology, romance, betrayal, and an epic battle for immortality. Libba Bray, author of Going Bovine, raves, "Quite simply, Guardian of the Dead is my favorite kind of read—creepy, funny, sexy, smart, and sometimes just downright, pull-the-covers-up-to-your-neck-and-pray-for-morning frightening. This book completely rocked my socks.”
Let us know if you're attending either of these events, and tell us what cool things are going on at your favorite Indie!

I would like to share a tip I just found about a discount gift card exchange called abcgiftcards.com . You can buy sell and trade gift cards at discounted prices from all National retailers.
