PRETTY DEAD, WAITING FOR YOU [Saturday Steals]

So I got a couple of great steals this week.  One book that's been on my wishlist for a while, but I just haven't gotten around to acquiring yet.  Another that I haven't considered before, but couldn't pass up because of the price.  These were both purchased from the Amazon Bargain Books section.

PRETTY DEAD by Francesca Lia Block has been on my list even before it came out.  I'm a sucker for the paranormal - you guys know that.  I love it because I can escape the normal for at least a little while.  And for $6.80?  This is totally a steal. ($16.99-$6.80=$10.18 savings or 60% off)
People pity me, but mostly they feel envy. I have all the luxury and freedom a girl my age could want.

Something is happening to Charlotte Emerson. Like the fires that are ravaging the hills of Los Angeles, it consumes her from the inside out. But whether it is her eternal loneliness, the memory of her brother, the return of her first love, or the brooding, magnetic Jared—she cannot say. What if it's something more . . .

Something to do with the sudden tear in her perfect nails. The heat she feels when she's with Jared. The blood rushing once again to her cheeks and throughout her veins.

For Charlotte is a vampire, witness to almost a century's worth of death and destruction. But not since she was a human girl has mortality touched her.

In what way will you be transformed?

Until now.
WAITING FOR YOU by Susanne Colosanti was featured on a lot of blogs when it came out, and I recognized it, but I never was super interested in it until I saw that I could buy it for $4.03. ($17.99-$4.03=$13.96 savings or 78% off)  Now, it sounds like it's totally worth it.  What do you think?

At the beginning of her sophomore year, Marisa is ready for a fresh start and, more importantly, a boyfriend. So when the handsome and popular Derek asks her out, Marisa thinks her long wait for happiness is over. But several bumps in the road—including her parents’ unexpected separation, a fight with her best friend, and a shocking disappointment in her relationship with Derek—test Marisa’s ability to maintain her new outlook. Only the anonymous DJ, whose underground podcasts have the school’s ear, seems to understand what Marisa is going through. But she has no idea who he is—or does she?

In this third romantic novel from Susane Colasanti, Marisa learns how to “be in the Now” and realizes that the love she’s been waiting for has been right in front of her all along.

Now, you might think that because I get such great steals on books that are on my wishlist, that I wouldn't preorder books, right?  Wrong.  I still preorder a buttload of books.  Why?  Because I know that when I preorder the book from Amazon, I'm going to get the best price on it between the time I order and the time it releases and probably a better price than what I will for a looooong time.  Here are some of the books I currently have on preorder:
Perchance to Dream: Theatre Illuminata #2Guardian of the Gate (Prophecy of the Sisters, Book 2) (Prophecy of the Sisters Trilogy, Book II)TormentSlice of CherryLingerOnly the Good Spy Young (Gallagher Girls)CrescendoInsatiableMockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games)Zombies vs. Unicorns

This post was written as part of a round up of bloggers' steals at Archives of our Lives' Saturday Steals. Go ahead, check out the other steals. Oh, and you know you wanna add your own, right?

I love the post. I don't get around to reading nearly as often as I should, and this has inspired me to get a summer reading list going!

I have heard of Pretty Dead, but never read a review about it. So I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on the book. I love paranormal books, and maybe I will add it to my too long tbr list. :)

Great steals. I haven't read a not-school book in so long, but now that it's summer, I'm definitely looking into some from your reading list. I can't wait to READ FOR FUN!
