Gartenkultur...Where Plants and Books Unite [I Spy]

Bookish people like bookish things.  This bookish person loves this bookish thing!  The Italian Gartenkultur combines recycled books with plants to make a super-unique, super cute planters that would make a welcome addition to my home, and probably yours too.  They're probably only practical for those of you in Europe, as I'm sure the shipping costs to America would be quite high, but think of the fun!

Wouldn't these make a great gift? For €65, you can get a Hemingway hardcover and a bonsai.  Seems pretty comprable to sending flowers, but much more bookish, and much more lasting.  You cats in Europe are so much hipper than we are here in the US!  For you Italians out there, it looks like you can purchase these at several stores in Milano (Le18, Pier Pour Hom, Luz), Lodi (Geroni, l'Ubiquita), and Crema (Spazio 120).

They quote Darwin, "It's not the strongest species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change."  Adding, "Gartenkultur is a piece of furniture, additional art work unique and unrepeatable. As each seed becomes a plant or tree, so the book becomes a vessel and cradle."  Oh you lucky, lucky Europeans!
