Are You Guys Sick of Amazon Steals Yet? [Saturday Steals]

Maybe maybe maybe.... maybe next Saturday will bring a Saturday Steal that doesn't originate from, maybe. I'm in Rose Hill, Kansas right now, visiting some of my favorite people on the planet, and I'm headed to the Arts & Crafts & Book Fair today, so maybe I'll have something to share that I actually hand selected without the help of an electronic device. But, this week, you guys are going to have to settle for the regular ol' boring Amazon Bargain Books section selections that I've ordered this week. Poor poor you. ★

This week's first nab was a hardcover copy of Tera Lynn Childs' GODDESS BOOT CAMP, the sequel to OH. MY. GODS. I adored OH. MY. GODS., and can't wait for FORGIVE MY FINS... plus, this one has been sitting unavailable in the bargain section for weeks. I had seriously given up on it coming around last week... I thought it was just teasing me. But, NOPE! It's on it's way to my house as I type this and I'm bumping it straight to the top of the to-read pile when I get home! ($16.99-$6.80=$10.19 savings or 60% off)
Phoebe, who recently discovered she’s a descendant of Nike (the goddess, not the shoe), is finding that supernatural powers come with a crazy learning curve. Her stepfather, headmaster of the Academy for descendants of the Greek gods, has enrolled her at Dynamotheos Development Camp—aka Goddess Boot Camp—with a bunch of ten-year-olds for the summer. Embarrassing as that is, hopefully it’ll help her gain control over her powers in time to pass the test of the gods, continue training hard enough to qualify for the Pythian Games, and enjoy her godly boyfriend, Griffin, all while avoiding the ultimate mistake of accidentally misusing powers.
It’s another fast-paced myth-inspired heroine’s quest that’s sure to bring out the goddess in anyone.
BONES OF FAERIE by Janni Lee Simner has also been on my list for a while. In fact, I was going to post about the book signing that took place in Tempe earlier this week, because I was totally planning to attend it, but stuff fell through at the last minute. So, if you're in San Diego, you can hit up Janni Lee at Mysterious Galaxy tonight, and if you're in Tucson, you can see her on either June 1st or 15th, and you totally have time to get your hands on a bargain priced copy to take with you to the signing. Check Janni Lee's Appearances page to see if she'll be adding locations for THIEF EYES, the next book in the series. (Let the record reflect that I recommend paying full-price for the book at the bookstore that is hosting the signing, otherwise bookstores will disappear and so will signings, but realize that the economy's still rough out there and embrace the practicality of this little cost shortcut). ($16.99-$6.80=$10.19 savings or 60% off)
The war between humanity and Faerie devastated both sides. Or so 15-year-old Liza has been told. Nothing has been seen or heard from Faerie since, and Liza’s world bears the scars of its encounter with magic. Trees move with sinister intention, and the town Liza calls home is surrounded by a forest that threatens to harm all those who wander into it. Then Liza discovers she has the Faerie ability to see—into the past, into the future—and she has no choice but to flee her town. Liza’s quest will take her into Faerie and back again, and what she finds along the way may be the key to healing both worlds.

Janni Lee Simner’s first novel for young adults is a dark fairy-tale twist on apocalyptic fiction—as familiar as a nightmare, yet altogether unique.
The third and final steal of the week is a hardcover copy of THE RULE OF WON by Stefan Petrucha. Honestly what grabbed me about this book as I was browsing the bargains this week was the cover. The title doesn't grab me at all. But I clicked on this one, read the description, was intrigued, then saw that it is often purchased by people who also purchase THE HUNGER GAMES, so I thought, heck, why not? I'll give it a try. I'm dying to know what you think about the description and if you think it sounds like something you'd like to read, so you gotta let me know, mmkay? It was like 2am when I bought it. But I still think it sounds good. ($16.99-$6.25=$10.74 savings or 63% off)
The secret of The Rule of Won is simple, yet its power has been suppressed for generations. The universe is one of infinite abundance—ask, and you shall receive.

Umm, yeah right. Meet Caleb Dunne, slacker extraordinaire. Caleb prefers to glide through life with the minimal amount of effort, so he isn’t too jazzed when his overachieving girlfriend, Vicky, convinces him to join a new school club based on a controversial book, The Rule of Won. Slackers don’t join school clubs, do they? As The Rule gains popularity, though, the club members start to gain power within the school. From dark posts on the club’s online message board to all-out threats in the hallways, it becomes apparent that the group is getting out of control. For slacker Caleb, though, the only thing worse than doing something is not doing something.

Darkly funny and exceptionally thought-provoking, The Rule of Won, inspired by the ideas behind books like the runaway hit The Secret, shines a light on the dangers of group thinking and the inner desires that can sometimes get the best of us all.

The covers of the books you feature always make me ready to go out and buy them at a moment's notice. I'm very impressionable.

Thanks for posting, and I'm sorry it took me forever to come by and comment. Crazy week.
