My Bookish Time in San Diego [Bookstore Trip]

Remember how I told you guys I was planning on going to Mysterious Galaxy while in San Diego?  Well, I went.  I went with my aunt and cousins, and found it absolutely charming.  See for yourself:

I of course spent all of my time in the YA section (which is all I photographed), and came away with two books:
  1. I So Don't Do Mysteries by Barrie Summy... which is apparently set in San Diego (and the 2nd book is set in Phoenix, so OMG, perfect).  I purchased a signed paperback copy of this one.  My teenaged cousin got the same signed paperback, and a signed hardcover of I So Don't Do Spooky, the next one in the series.
  2. Bedeviled: Daddy's Little Angel by Shani Petroff, which has been circling around my head for a while, but I hadn't seen it on a shelf.  When my cousin pointed it out, I grabbed it away from her and bought it.  I know, grabby.  That's the way I get with books.
I'll forgive the bookseller for giving me a bit of incorrect information, because I was going to double check to see whether or not Barrie Summy was a local SoCal author anyway (which she is, but the seller told me she was not).  Mysterious Galaxy has a pretty cool receipt policy where if you keep your receipts and get to $100, you get $10 off your next purchase.  Pretty sweet deal.  So I'd recommend checking out Mysterious Galaxy if you're ever in San Diego.  It's an awesome indie shop, and definitely worth our support.
We also ended up also going to a used bookstore in San Diego called Book Off.  Kinda a cute name for a bookstore, right?  Totally.  Especially since we went in and half of the bookstore is in Chinese.  Not half of the signs, but half of the books and movies as well.  Super cute way to mesh cultures.  AND, they had a HUGE used Manga section.  While there, I picked up a couple of books as well:
  1. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard in paperback for $4.50, and in excellent condition.
  2. Bad Girls In Love by Cynthia Voigt in paperback for $2.50 in great condition.
If, by chance, you're interested in everything else I did while I was in San Diego, you can check it out here.  Also, I picked up a brochure for The Booksellers of San Diego Directory, which might help you in your quest to find a bookstore in San Diego... if you were by chance looking.

Sounds like you had fun! I'm thinking I need to make a book run, too...
