FALLEN by Lauren Kate [Book Inspection]

Plot Sketch: They call Luce Price a "traumatized" girl, who is blamed for the death of her ex-boyfriend. As a result, she is told that the only school left for her to go to is the Sword & Cross boarding school in Savannah, Georgia. The kids at this school are nowhere near normal. On her first day, she meets two boys. One boy, Cam, wants to be in her life completely and the other, Daniel, doesn't seem to notice her. She looks at Daniel and knows that they have seen each other before, she just has no idea when. When Luce asks Daniel if they've met before, he claims that he does not recognize her. Which boy is good and which is bad? Will her new-found friends help her decide or just lead her into more trouble?

Verdict: This book is amazingly well-written. It is not only a book I could not put down, but one I would recommend to my friends.  Even though you have an idea of where the story is going, there will be no shortage of surprises. It is not like any book I have read before. It was easy for me to keep up with the plot changes, and the characters felt like real people and I connected with them easily.  FALLEN is a dark intrigue and fascinating romance that I adored.  The content, though steamy in parts, is definitely appropriate for teens that are in high school.  I'd feel comfortable reading this with my mother.  Oh, and it's better than Romeo & Juilet and I looooved Romeo & Juliet.

The Gauntlet:

Location: Sword & Cross Boarding School
Main Character: Luce Pierce. I could relate to Luce because she was very misunderstood by adults, like most teenagers. Her parents didn't understand her and she was trying to find herself. She wanted to be understood but couldn't find a way. She has major guy problems, just like most of us teenage girls.
Favorite Character: My favorite character was Daniel because he kept his true identity secret right up till the very end.
Time to Finish: Two days. I couldnt put it down!  Even though I had school.
Got Stuck On: Nothing.
Would Change: Absolutely nothing.
Favorite Line: "You're my love, Lucinda. For me, you're all there is." (pg. 365)
People Who Will Like This: People who are misunderstood, teen-aged girls that are sick of Twilight, people didn't like this?
People Who Won't Like This:  Twihards, people who love complex books
Chapters: 20

Hardcover: 464 pages
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Publish Date: December 8th, 2009
ISBN-10: 0385738935

I love Twilight but this is a good plot and sounds really interesting. And you recommending this to others means that it's really good. But it made me curious why Twilight fans wouldn't like this. May I know why? Or is that part of the mystery of the book? :D

Have to disagree! I LOVED this book, but I also loved Twilight! Anything with sappy love story is good for me ;)

It's a great review. I love the book. I have 2 chapter pending to finish it. Ah, haha, it's Luce Price, no Luce Pierce.

I don't know what to think. I've read many reviews about this book and some people think it's great and other say it sucks. Maybe I'll have to read it to find out what I mean ;)

I LOVED this book! I read it in about two days also. I was really surprised as I thought I'd hate it. I can't wait for book two, Torment!

I loved this too! I've seen some reviews complaining of no action, but I love that it can be so enthralling when there isn't a lot going on. That's true writing skill.
The only teeny tiny thing that I didn't like was how unrealistic the setting was. The idea is cool, but it didn't quite come off well I don't think.

I love the inspection. :)

I think that most Twihards won't like it because of the fact that it is different. I'm not saying all Twilight fans won't like it. I like Twilight also but I love this book so much more. Thanks for all the comments. =)

Oh, and I will change the last name.
