AS YOU WISH, RAMPANT, IMMORTAL, & COMEDY GIRL (& Maybe More) [Saturday Steals]

On the fateful day that I went prom dress shopping with a 17 year old, I stumbled on a few great deals that I couldn't wait to share with you guys.  Hold your horses, we'll get to the book steals, I promise.  I'm just itching to share these with you though, 'cause I actually went shopping, in a store.  Anyway, I went to Tilly's in the mall and we also went to Claire's.  I got a steal at both stores.  First at Claire's I found this really fun hairbobber for $2.75 (5.49-2.75 = $2.74 savings or 50% off).   Second, at Tilly's I found this super fun bird necklace for $2.50 (6.99-2.50 = $4.49 savings or 64% off).  Steals?  I think so, but you tell me.

Okay, okay, now here are my book steals for the week:

COMEDY GIRL by Ellen Schreiber (she's the author of Vampire Kisses) from Amazon, hardcover $1.41 (15.99-1.41 = 14.58 savings or 91% off).  Yeah, you read that right, one dollar and forty-one cents.  Total steal. (Though it looks like it's gone up to $6.40) Description:

Trixie Shapiro may be one of the shyest students at Mason High, but she's also the funniest. When her best friend, Jazzy, signs her up to perform stand-up at Senior Talent Night, Trixie's terrified she'll absolutely choke. And as if a seemingly disastrous debut isn't enough, Trixie's drama teacher encourages her to try again this time at the local comedy club, Chaplin's. To her surprise, Trixie's confidence begins to swell, and a surefire comedy act is born. Trixie finds herself on a fast track, winning contests and earning a job as the opening comic at the comedy club. It's a dream come true. Then Trixie lands a boyfriend her longtime crush, hipster Gavin Baldwin. Now caught between the increasing demands of two worlds, Trixie faces a difficult choice between a romantic, inviting path and a risky shot at comedic stardom. Ellen Schreiber narrates an inspiring and entertaining story of a shy teen who, struggling to find her voice, discovers a shining place in the spotlight.
My next steal was an AS YOU WISH by Jackson Pearce hardcover, which has been on my wishlist since before it came out. Amazon has the hardcover in their bargain section for  $6.80 (16.99-6.80 = $10.19 savings or 60% off)(We're giving away a preorder for Jackson Pearce's newest book, SISTERS RED, just a quick FYI) Description:
Ever since Viola's boyfriend broke up with her, she has spent her days silently wishing—to have someone love her again and, more importantly, to belong again—until one day she inadvertently summons a young genie out of his world and into her own. He will remain until she makes three wishes.
Jinn is anxious to return home, but Viola is terrified of wishing, afraid she will not wish for the right thing, the thing that will make her truly happy. As the two spend time together, the lines between master and servant begin to blur, and soon Jinn can't deny that he's falling for Viola. But it's only after Viola makes her first wish that she realizes she's in love with Jinn as well . . . and that if she wishes twice more, he will disappear from her life—and her world—forever.
Then, I found another hardcover on my to-acquire for the Read Your Name Challenge, RAMPANT by Diana Peterfreund, again with the Amazon Bargain Books section at $7.20 (17.99-7.20 = $10.79 savings or 60% off). Description:
Forget everything you ever knew about unicorns . . .
Real unicorns are venomous, man-eating monsters with huge fangs and razor-sharp horns. Fortunately, they've been extinct for a hundred and fifty years.
   Or not.
Astrid had always scoffed at her eccentric mother's stories about killer unicorns. But when one of the monsters attacks her boyfriend—thereby ruining any chance of him taking her to the prom—Astrid finds herself headed to Rome to train as a unicorn hunter at the ancient cloisters the hunters have used for centuries.
However, at the cloisters all is not what it seems.       Outside, the unicorns wait to attack. And within, Astrid faces other, unexpected threats: from the crumbling, bone-covered walls that vibrate with a terrible power to the hidden agendas of her fellow hunters to—perhaps most dangerously of all—her growing attraction to a handsome art student . . . an attraction that could jeopardize everything.
And finally, a book that I've seen both good and bad reviews about, but one that I've nonetheless wanted to read, IMMORTAL by Gillian Shields, same Amazon Bargain Books section, hardcover: $6.80 (16.99-6.80 = $10.19 savings or 60% off). Here's the book blurb:
Wyldcliffe Abbey School for Young Ladies, housed in a Gothic mansion on the bleak northern moors, is elite, expensive, and unwelcoming. When Evie Johnson is torn away from her home by the sea to become the newest scholarship student, she is more isolated than she could have dreamed. Strict teachers, snobbish students, and the oppressive atmosphere of Wyldcliffe leave Evie drowning in loneliness.
Evie's only lifeline is Sebastian, a rebellious, mocking, dangerously attractive young man she meets by chance. As Evie's feelings for Sebastian grow with each secret meeting, she starts to fear that he is hiding something about his past. And she is haunted by glimpses of a strange, ghostly girl—a girl who is so eerily like Evie, she could be a sister. Evie is slowly drawn into a tangled web of past and present that she cannot control. And as the extraordinary, elemental forces of Wyldcliffe rise up like the mighty sea, Evie is faced with an astounding truth about Sebastian, and her own incredible fate.
I feel like I had a pretty dang good week deals wise!  And I did get my copy of DINGO from last week's steal on my doorstep this week, so I was excited about that, even if I found out via comments that it might not have been the best choice as my first attempt at reading Charles de Lint.  I totally appreciate your feedback on that guys, thank you!  So, what do you think about this week's deals? And, are you guys participating in Saturday Steals at Archives of our Lives or what?  Head over to see what steals other people got this week, then write your own post and show off your own.  I mean, I know I want to see, so if I want to see, chances are your readers do too!

Wow! I so want to read Rampant and I'm not too lucky cause the price of the book + shipping exceed my $15 Amazon GC! Apparently the shipping price end up being much higher than the book price itself. But oh my... the cover looks amazing! *drool*

Love Comedy Girl. I need to read it again because I'm writing a YA about a funny girl and it has some nice inspiration. And it's a total change from her VAMPIRE KISSES!

That necklace is absolutely adorable (and pretty!)

Though I am certainly no expert, I heartily approve of your hairbobber and necklace steals (and steals they were!). And I don't know HOW you find such amazing steals on books, but I am duly impressed. You must be drowning in them at your house (or do you sell them back at Bookman's or give them away or just have bookcases all over?). That's something I need...more bookcases (and I'm sure I don't have near as many as you do).

Thanks so much for contributing again. I hope the feature grows a little more next week...I refuse to give up on it yet.
