Avalon High Extended [Graphic Novel]

Avalon High Coronation
Title: Avalon High: Coronation Vol. I The Merlin Prophecies
Author: Meg Cabot
Illustrator: Jinky Coronado
Publisher: HarperCollins

Description: This graphic novel picks up where the novel, Avalon High, leaves off. It continues a little bit more into the story, though not very far at all... and I won't ruin it for you by expounding because if I did expound, there wouldn't be much more for you to discover.

Verdict: No Love. Avalon High was the book that introduced me to YA lit and made me appreciate and endear the genre. Spending $8 on this black and white rendering felt like a waste and it only took about a half hour to get through... if that. Half of the comic was spent depicting what happened in the novel, and I thought it was a waste of my time. I'll not be picking up the rest of these.

People Who Might Like This: maybe people who didn't have to pay for it?
People Who Probably Won't Like It: people who expect bang for their buck, people who like stories to move along.

I love the format of your blog - the place to note who might like a book and who might not, your overall verdict. This is great information - very helpful. I may have to think of ways to incorporate that sort of information into my reviews. I also appreciate the "warning" to stay away from this one. There are too many books out there to spend time on ones that don't cut it.

I haven't read this one, but I heard the same thing from my teens after I put several copies out with my giveaway books during last summer's reading program. It wasn't a popular choice, although I have LOTS of girls who love everything Meg Cabot's ever written.
