Shareworthy: Friday, June 6, 2009 [Volume 1, Edition 10]

This week seemed to have a zillion super fun things to share. So I'll get started sharing things that were so rockin' I deemed them Shareworthy:

  • Twitter party tonight! Join us for this one-of-a-kind YA book launch party featuring book
trivia, spontaneous (and sometimes inappropriately personal) author Q&A, prizes and giveaways, laughs, and tons of tweety tomfoolery celebrating Sarah Ockler's debut novel, TWENTY BOY SUMMER! Make sure that you have a Twitter Account and that you follow @sarahockler so that you'll be eligible for prizes. The official hashtag is #20BoySummer. Not sure how to tweet or what the heck Twitter is? Email me and I'll email you my quick tutorial. It's not pretty, but it should help you navigate.
  • Hey all you writers out there! Lifehacker has a tip for curing writer's block.
  • Jessica Verday shared with us Chapter One of The Hollow. I read it and I must say I can NOT wait for the rest of this one. Great start Jessica!
  • You all saw the news about Salinger's lawsuit about the Catcher in the Rye, but in case you missed it, check out this article on CNN.
  • The fantasy world lost a beloved author this week. David Eddings passed away on June 2nd. Check out tributes at Fantasy Magazine and Ink and Paper.
  • Liv of Liv's Book Reviews is hosting A Shakespearean Summer. This contest is to help us either acquaint or reacquaint ourselves with Shakespeare. I am participating and am struggling my way through As You Like It right now, the No Fear Shakespeare version! So be on the lookout for my posts this summer for As You Like It, Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, and The Taming of the Shrew... (ambitious? mabye a little too much, but if I publicly declare that I want to do it, I will. hopefully.) For me it's not about the prizes, but the prizes are provided by the fabulous Lisa Mantchev, whose novel, Eyes Like Stars, drops 7.7.09. Check it out!
  • Shooting Stars Mag is hosting a giveaway for a SUPER awesome Royal Pains gift pack. Read the interview with Mark Feuerstein that Lauren got a chance to participate in for Royal Pains, which premiered last night. Also, while you're there, check out her upcoming YA Book Carnival, and her article about downloading some fun new music for charity.
And now some reminders and updates about happenings here at I Heart Monster:

  • My contest for my copies of Marlene Perez's Dead Is... series is being extended to June 30th. If you haven't entered, make sure to head over there and enter by telling us a song that would describe you...
  • You have until 11:59 my time tonight to enter the Shanna Swendson giveaway by guessing a travel destination that's missing on her list. There are some other hints to help you out too in the post.
  • Don't forget about Genre Irrelevant: Summer Photo Contest. Make sure that you email me your entries! If you have a blog, and you post buttons, or you do a post about this contest, I'd love it if you grabbed my button to put on your site. If you don't do that, it's cool, I get it!
