An Author I Heart: Meg Cabot

I Heart Monster hearts Meg Cabot.

I first read a Meg Cabot book in 2005. This was about the time that I was discovering that I really did like to read, despite what my elementary school teachers, high school teachers, and college professors had led me to believe. I was teaching the teenage Sunday School class at church and I always started the class by asking the students a couple of random questions about them. Of course at some point, I had to ask, "What is your favorite author?" One of the girls, Katie, responded authoritatively: Meg Cabot. I was like, hmmm... Meg Cabot? I don't think I've heard of her. Katie told me that I HAD to check her out.

So about a week later, I was sitting at Target waiting for my prescription to be filled. I started wandering through the book aisle and happened upon a new release by Meg Cabot, Avalon High. I put it in my cart.

It was the week between Christmas and New Years, and I was having a very, very slow training week at work. No one wanted to have their employees trained because everyone was on vacation. So, my desk and inbox both empty, I took my new book to work with me. I finished it in one day. I was amazed at how much I really enjoyed reading it! I jumped onto Google and tried to find out what else she had written. I used the majority of my Christmas money to purchase some of her works.

Within a year, I had read everything Meg Cabot that I could get my hands on, and nothing else. If I had time to read, I read Meg. I really enjoyed all of her books. Now, as soon as I hear that she's going to release a new book, I pre-order it, no questions asked because I know that I will enjoy it, with the exception of the Princess Diaries. I haven't read a single one yet, but I will. I'm hoping someone comes out with an entire collection so I can purchase it in one swipe of my card!

My favorite titles by Meg are the Heather Wells series (Size 12 is Not Fat, Size 14 is Not Fat Either, and Big Boned), and Jinx. I'm anxiously awaiting her next release, Being Nikki, coming to a store near you on May 5th.

What I Heart Monster Wants To Know:
  • Do you heart Meg Cabot too?
  • Do you have a favorite Meg Cabot book?

I heart Meg Cabot, too! The first book I ever read of hers was Pants on Fire and I loved it. I bought the Princess Diaries 1-3 in one volume and won the 10th one in a contest but haven't read any of them yet.
